Back after a long hiatus.

Still in Boston and loving it. Loving the old brick, harsh thunderstorms, impossibly large egos, ice slabs that last 'til May, rollerblading along the Charles River, taking the T, having DECENT PUBLIC TRANSIT, dating the locals (heh), being near my parents (but not too near, claro), having the ocean so close by, having a big downtown so close by, the urbane European feel of Boston Common (benches, lamps, and statuary galore), the closeness of Europe period (6 hours away, 3 time zones - hey wait - that's Seattle!), witnessing and taking part in the mass hysteria that is Red Sox fan-dom (and loving the season so far), the old houses, the crooked streets, the thick accents, the Italian restaurants on *every* corner...

What else?

BTW, for those who care, my current home of 4 months is:

www.millstonecoop.org

Lots to say on that, but will save that for another day..

Jose

P.S. Hm. Ever notice how there aren't any erotically tinged Moods in the list? Or are there and I just missed them?

evil email.

I hate email. what a bad forum for serious talks (e.g. the relationship kind). I think it's the lack of instant feedback, as well as of course the non-written stuff (e.g. verbal but not related to the words themselves - intonation, timing, pitch, background sounds - things you can at least pick up on the phone).

I used to think it was worth the extra time you can put into writing precisely what you mean, vs. having to generate something on the spot (during conversation). but now I feel like that doesn't make up for the feedback thing. I often feel like I can communicate more in a 3-minute phone call than I could with 5 round-trips of emailing.

argh.

I'm never going to use email again. ever.

except to email my parents tonight.

and ask this great organization about volunteering next week.

but OTHERWISE never. ever.
